[教學] short vowels review (a, e, i)

 
真的,學生大概只有上課的前半段(15分鐘)是專注的,所以後半段就得靠"Learning by Doing"的理念讓他們的心不會飛到窗外。

在這裡,先插播一下我的教學流程。
在每一課的教學進度,我通常是這樣安排的:
1.先播放相同主題的歌曲(Youtube是英師的好朋友),讓學生先熟悉單字
2.搭配主題繪本引發興趣,接著進入課本單字
練習
3.課文對話
句型練習
4.進入phonics:先播放相同phonics重點的歌曲→phonics readers
操作字母卡片進行blending practice練習回到課本phonics頁面
5.Unit review

大致而言,我都是在一連串的input與practice後,才進入課本,
而今日這個活動,我也是安排在上述第4點的「練習」中,使學生充分累積input後,才進入課本,讓學生邊指字邊複習。

Board game〈Matching〉
我設計了一個4*4的board讓學生做團隊matching的練習,
搭配online stopwatch的倒數計時炸彈,學生很快就投入活動中了。


PS.原本只是想設計以phonics為主的遊戲,但是格數太多,又僅想加入學生較熟悉的CVC words,索性就納入該課的colors單字,一併讓學生複習囉!
  • Language Focus: colors (blue, green, red, yellow), short vowel CVC words (short a, e, i)
  • Goal: To match the words to the pictures.
  • Rules: Ss take turns to draw one card from the pile, read it aloud, and do the match. When the matching is finished, they record the time. This game will be played twice or three times so Ss will see their reading speed been improved. 
  • Evaluation: Ss practice their reading skill through this game. Ss will get points if they achieve it within the time limit, so this is also a good game to make the group "as a team". No more fighting nor shouting!
